Victor Montez, et al. v. Dennis Perez

CONCLUDED

Trial
06/22/23 – 07/06/23

Summary

In this trial, Victor Montez was struck head-on by defendant Dennis Perez. Montez claims to have suffered a traumatic brain injury, as well as other back and neck injuries. Perez pleaded guilty to felony driving while intoxicated, but insurer MetLife contests liability and Montez's stated injuries.

MetLife, Perez's insurer, argues that Perez hit a puddle, causing the accident. Representatives for MetLife also contest Montez's supposed injuries, as some of the damages claims allegedly did not appear in records until months after the crash.

Outcome

Verdict for plaintiffs.
Total damages: $8,887,730 in compensatory damages, with findings of punitive damages scheduled for a later date.
