Thunder Roybal v. Louis Bellomo

VERDICT

Trial
05/17/22 – 05/25/22

Summary

Thunder Roybal was hit while he was bicycling by Louis Bellomo, a chauffeur at the Sapphire Gentleman's Club. Roybal sues both Bellomo and SHAC LLC, operators of Sapphire, claiming that Bellomo's unsafe driving caused the accident.

Representatives for Roybal assert that Bellomo attempted to pass, but clipped Roybal's bicycle, with Roybal being run over by the vehicle. According to them, Bellomo tried to flee the scene, and Roybal's brother had to physically block the SUV from leaving. This accident, they claim, led Roybal to require four surgeries for shoulder, neck, and chest injuries.

Bellomo contests these allegations, claiming that Roybal was bicycling out of his lane and attempted to hit his SUV’s mirror. Bellomo disputes that Roybal was completely run over by the SUV, in addition to disputing Roybal's alleged injuries, explaining these as stemming from unrelated chronic back issues. Finally, Bellomo's attorneys deny that he was attempting to flee, claiming that he was searching for a safe place to pull over.
