Summary

This is a re-trial for the medical malpractice & Negligence case, the earlier trial was declared a mistrial after approximately one week because a key expert witness became unavailable.

In the proceeding, plaintiff Pamela Moore alleged Dr. Heidi McNaney-Flint and Martin Memorial health system of malpractice and being negligent while performing a laparoscopic hysterectomy to remove a thyroid tumor, due to which the plaintiff was seriously and permanently injured (perforated colon).
According to the plaintiff, an open abdominal procedure should have been used because the doctor allegedly knew that the patient had a large uterus with scar tissue from prior surgeries. Further, the procedure allegedly should have been converted to open abdominal after it became clear that the tumor was larger than anticipated.

The plaintiff was represented by attorneys David Carter, Brian Connelly and Jason Odom. The defense comprised of Heidi McNaney-Flint and Martin Memorial health systems. Heidi McNaney-Flint was represented by attorneys Reed Kellner and Alex Barker. Martin Memorial Health systems was represented by attorneys G. Bruce Hill and Janet Adams.
