Summary

In this education Law proceeding, the plaintiff Beatriz Vergara and others challenged the tenure policies of California public school teachers. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of nine individual public school students. The allegations against the defendants were that ineffective teachers are allowed to continue teaching even though their earlier performance had been inadequate.
